2025 was great but we are planning to make 2026 even better!

I hope you are all enjoying a break from cricket, but spare a thought for your volunteer committee members who are already working hard on plans for 2026!

New Director of Cricket
I am delighted that Steve Busby has agreed to be our new DOC, and is currently forming a Cricket Committee made up of representatives from all parts of the club to help him manage our cricket activities including:

  • Selection policy
  • Selection of captains and vice-captains
  • Conduct and discipline
  • Coaching and practice
  • Senior player recruitment
  • Player welfare and safeguarding

Membership and subscriptions
Jane Morfitt has kindly offered to help us manage the membership database and make sure that everyone is signed up to the correct membership plan. Thanks Jane!

Social Committee
We have some new volunteers to bring fresh ideas and energy to the planning of social and fundraising events - James Litherland, Gabby Karlberg, Tom Lloyd, Tristan Sands and Laura Cardy. Look out for some new events and old favourites in 2026. The guest speaker at our annual Sporting Dinner is Graeme Swann at a new venue, Altrincham Football Club, which will be a great night.

New drainage
You may remember that in the 2025 pre-season we started work on some drainage improvements, part-funded by Sport England. That project is now being finished with the addition of some new drains in the area between the pavilion and the nets.

Lottery project
The potholes in the tarmac at the junction of our drive with the main road will soon be gone, thanks to the Lottery Grant we won nearly a year ago.

New projects
The Premises Committee is planning another round of applications for more grants to develop and improve the ground and pavilion. Watch this space!

New unified kit
We have come to the end of the old white shirt sponsorship deals, and have agreed new deals with Kingsford Wealth, Vision Cricket, Sai Spice and Altrincham Mortgages. The new deal means that in 2026 to 2028 all our players will wear the same shirt - juniors, seniors, and over 40s. Thanks to our sponsors!

More sponsors needed
We would like to supply our T20 teams with coloured kit, and we would like to include a good quality cap in our free kit offering to members, but we need sponsors. If you can help please get in touch with Nick Liddell.

Winter nets
We have booked BTH again starting on 15th Jan - see you there!

And Finally…
Thank you to those who have kindly donated to our Crowd Funding Project and we are now at £5,585 against our target of £10,000. Gift Aid will add another thousand pounds or so. This project is for the new sliding doors connecting the inside and outside areas, so if you have not yet donated, would like to donate again or know friends and family who would, please spread the word. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/qr/VyYXXrgn
